Description

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) is proposing a new information collection to gather food price data in seven non-contiguous states and U.S. territories, including Alaska, American Samoa, CNMI, Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. This study aims to fill gaps in existing food price data to better inform federal nutrition and agricultural policies such as the Thrifty Food Plan. Data will be collected through multiple methods including electronic retailer data, WIC EBT data, web scraping, and in-store surveys. Public comments on this proposed collection are invited until June 8, 2026.
