US Air Force Prometheus Flame Challenge: Open-Source Autonomy & Mission Systems Software Competition

The US Air Force is seeking innovative solutions through the Prometheus Flame Challenge, a competition focused on developing open-source, standards-compliant Autonomy and Mission Systems (AMS) software platforms. - Sponsored by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) - Challenge targets open-source software implementations compliant with Agile Mission Suite GRA and Autonomy GRA standards - Emphasis on open-source licensing, standards compliance, and community engagement - Solutions should leverage commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware for dual-use (military and commercial) applications - Multiple prize phases, culminating in fly-off demonstrations in Dayton, Ohio - No specific OEMs, part numbers, or product quantities are specified - Potential for follow-on Other Transaction Agreements (OTAs) for strategic partners - All requirements and technical details are in the attached draft document

Key Requirements: - Develop and deliver open-source AMS GRA and A-GRA compliant software - Provide simulation and flight demonstrations using COTS hardware - Submit documentation and public-facing resources

Timeline: - Challenge phases are 3-6 months each, starting around June 2026 - First phase begins approximately 3 months after public release of standards - Specific dates and prize amounts are to be determined
