The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) intends to request approval from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to reinstate with modification a previously approved information collection related to the Uniform Tire Quality Grading Standards (UTQGS) under 49 CFR 575.104. This collection requires approximately 45 manufacturers to submit grading information on behalf of about 160 tire brand names, including treadwear, traction, and temperature resistance grades. The information supports consumer awareness and NHTSA's enforcement activities by ensuring tire quality data is publicly available. The modifications clarify respondent numbers and account for the burden of compiling and submitting materials, resulting in a decrease in estimated burden hours.
