Description
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, has issued a final supplemental environmental impact statement (SEIS) for the construction permit application submitted by Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) for one GE Vernova Hitachi BWRX-300 small modular reactor (SMR) at the Clinch River Nuclear Site, Unit 1 in Roane County, Tennessee. The SEIS evaluates the environmental impacts of issuing a construction permit to allow the construction of the SMR, as well as alternatives to the proposed action. TVA plans to construct and operate the unit to demonstrate the feasibility of the BWRX-300 SMR technology.
