Description

The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) is issuing a final rule to delay indefinitely the effective date of certain conforming amendments to metal and nonmetal (MNM) mining standards related to respirable crystalline silica exposure and respiratory protection. This delay follows a judicial stay of compliance deadlines established in the 2024 Silica Rule, which had set an effective date of April 8, 2026, for these amendments. Until the judicial stay is lifted, existing standards remain in effect, and MSHA will publish further updates once the stay is terminated.
