The City of Methuen Department of Public Works is seeking bids for a comprehensive range of construction materials and services for the 2026 construction season. - Government Buyer: - City of Methuen, Department of Public Works - Office of the City Clerk, Searles Building, 41 Pleasant Street, Room 112, Methuen, MA 01844 - Products and Materials Requested: - Superpave Surface Course 9.5 and Base Course 19 (hot mix asphalt) - HMA for Patching, Hot Mix Asphalt Curb, Hot Mix Asphalt Berm Type A - Reclaimed Pavement for Base Course (over 51,800 SY) - Cold Planing and Profiling of Bituminous Surfaces - Structures Casting Adjustments, Manhole and Catch Basin Frames & Covers, Gate Boxes (including 3-flange catch basin frames, all made in the USA) - Sand, Stone, Gravel, Bituminous Concrete Type I-1, Cold Patch (F.O.B. and delivered) - Unclassified Excavation (up to 8,250 CY), Gravel Borrow (up to 2,100 CY) - Drainage and Sanitary Structure Adjustments/Rebuilds, Gate Box Adjustments - Calcium Chloride for dust control (15,000 LB) - Sidewalk repair materials: granite and asphalt curbs, cement concrete sidewalks and ramps, brick walk, loam borrow, seeding, fencing, safety signage, and temporary pedestrian barricades - Services Requested: - On-call sidewalk repairs - Cold planing and profiling services - Police detail services (up to 1,538 hours) - Notable Requirements: - MassDOT prequalification required for certain work categories (Pavement Surfacing, Reclamation, Milling, Drainage, Sewer & Water, Sidewalk and Curbing) - Compliance with Massachusetts prevailing wage rates and OSHA 10-hour training for workers - All frames, covers, and gate boxes must be made in the USA; 3-flange catch basin frames are mandatory - Liquidated damages of $500 per day for late completion; one-year warranty on workmanship and materials - Bids must include a 5% bid bond or certified/cashier's check - OEMs and Vendors: - No specific OEMs or manufacturers are named; procurement is open to all qualified vendors meeting requirements - Estimated Quantities: - Detailed quantities for excavation, materials, and services are provided for accurate bidding - Place of Performance: - All work to be performed within the City of Methuen, Massachusetts, with delivery and coordination through the Department of Public Works office
