Description

The Museum of Ventura County intends to repatriate a cultural item defined as an object of cultural patrimony affiliated with the Timbisha Shoshone Tribe. The item is a winnowing basket acquired in the 1960s and donated to the museum in 1996. This repatriation is conducted under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), with repatriation possible on or after May 4, 2026. Requests for repatriation may be submitted by affiliated Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations or lineal descendants.
