Description

The Kansas State Historical Society (KSHS) has completed an inventory of human remains in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The inventory identifies a cultural affiliation between the remains and certain Indian Tribes, specifically the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe of South Dakota and the Omaha Tribe of Nebraska. The notice details the origin of the remains, consultation results, and procedures for repatriation, which may occur on or after May 4, 2026.
