Description
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has approved Ohio's request to redesignate the Muskingum River area from nonattainment to attainment for the 2010 sulfur dioxide (SO2) National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS). This action is based on Ohio's demonstration that the area meets the statutory requirements under the Clean Air Act, including a maintenance plan and enforceable emission limits for Globe Metallurgical, Inc. The rule is effective April 2, 2026, and incorporates Ohio's maintenance plan and final findings into the federally enforceable State Implementation Plan (SIP).
