The Library of Congress is seeking contractor support for large-scale collection maintenance, preservation, and inventory services at its Capitol Hill campus in Washington, DC. - Government Buyer: - Library of Congress, Contracts and Grants Directorate - Office: Library of Congress - OEMs and Vendors: - No specific OEMs or vendors are named in the solicitation or attachments. - Products/Services Requested: - Collection maintenance, preservation, and inventory services for library materials in multiple languages - Reshelving (25,000 items/year) - Shifting shelves (270,000 items/year) - Newspaper shelving (40,000 items/year) - Periodicals shelving (25,000 items/year) - Binding preparation for English/Romance (8,000 items/year) and foreign language materials (12,280 items/year) - Inventory of unprepared volumes (93,000/year) and microfilm (1,000/year) - Review, collation, and inventory for digitization (30,000/year) - Services include: - Shelving, shifting, and reshelving of materials - Preparation of serials for binding (collation, barcoding, record updates, quality assurance) - Inventory control and security (using LC LCAP system) - Digitization support (retrieval, collation, inventory) - Unique or Notable Requirements: - Staff must have foreign language proficiency and experience handling library collections - Services must adhere to professional standards and best practices - Work supports daily, weekly, and special project needs - Contract is a single-award IDIQ with a minimum value of $50,000 and a maximum of $5,000,000 over five years - All work performed at the Library of Congress Capitol Hill campus and associated facilities

Description

The Library of Congress, Library Collections and Services Group (LCSG) requires contractor assistance to maintain and manage its collection of materials through maintenance, preservation work for binding preparation, shifting, shelving, inventory, and reshelving (PRESSI) services for items in its collections to help achieve Library of Congress (Library) goals of assuring long-term, sustainable preservation, and access for items in its collections. Services shall be provided according to the highest professional standards, guidelines, and best practices.The contractor shall provide collection maintenance, preservation, and inventory services to support standard operations of the Library. Work for these tasks shall be performed on a daily and weekly basis. In addition, the contractor shall perform projects as assigned.
