Description
The Postal Service is issuing a final rule amending the Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, Domestic Mail Manual (DMM) to require accurate parcel dimensions to be included in shipping manifests. This rule aims to improve operational efficiency, capacity forecasting, and compliance by expanding the current dimensional reporting requirements. The implementation will occur in two phases, with the first phase starting July 12, 2026, requiring accurate dimension reporting, and the second phase, tentatively in early 2027, introducing automated accuracy checks and fee assessments for noncompliance. The rule applies to commercial Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, USPS Ground Advantage, and Parcel Select products, excluding Flat Rate and USPS Returns pieces.
