EXPRESSION OF INTEREST
The General Services Office (GSO) US Mission South Africa seeks to enter into a contract with qualified, reliable firms with sufficient resources, financing, and specific work experience related to STRUCTURAL STEEL construction, for delivering and performing of services at US Consulate located on 1 Sandton Drive, Sandhurst, Johannesburg.
The scope of work includes but not limited to the following.
Establishment of site for installation and removal thereof on completion Consulate Security Clearance on all contractors’ personnel to execute work on premises. Associated preparation, clearing, protection, safety, and reinstatement on completion. Adherence to OSH Act and health and safety compliance Temporary protection of and support to existing equipment and property Removal or relocation of existing equipment, electrical cabling, and DB’s where indicated Measurement, submission of shop drawings, and manufacturing of steel staircase Installation of temporary access to the bottom of the work area. Manufacture, delivery, and installation of steel staircase including crane facilities Commission and handover of site
A compulsory site meeting will be held at 1 Sandton Drive, Sandhurst, Johannesburg on Wednesday, 13 May 2026 @ 10h30 am during which brief the date and time of tender closure will be confirmed as well as the full Scope of Work and Tender documents be provided.

The following important requirements are applicable
Only Contractors with specific structural steel construction experience with value above R 0.5 million may attend the site-meeting. Contractors are requested to bring their own measuring equipment to the Site Meeting. Contractors will be required to provide proof and references of previous projects completed. Any Proposals received without this proof, will not be considered. Structural Steel Manufacturing will not be allowed to be sub-contracted. The successful bidder must have a company that specialises in the manufacturing and installation of structural steel, with a least 10 years track record in the same industry.
U.S Embassy payment terms:
i) The US Embassy will make no provision for fluctuations in price or exchange rates after the order has been placed. If your price is dependent on these fluctuations, you MUST make provision for possible increases in your quoted price.
ii) The U.S Embassy does not authorize Advance (deposit) payments.
Payment will be made via EFT into the company’s bank account, within 30 days of delivery of goods/services and receipt of proper Invoice.
iv) By submitting a Quotation, you are agreeing to waiver any payment terms that may be in contrast with the above.
Payments for work completed will be done as follows.
Claim 1 as measured and certified on delivery to site of work completed and payable within 30 days of submission. Claim 2 as measured and certified on 100 % completion of work and payable within 30 days of submission.
Compulsory SAM Registration
All tenderers must register with SAM - System for Award Management, by the time of the award, as part of the tender process.

U.S. National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) Section 889(a)(1)(B)
The US Government’s Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) has been updated with new clauses and provisions, per the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) Section 889(a)(1)(B), that impact the U.S. Government entering new or extending current contracts, purchase orders, task/delivery orders, purchase card orders, petty cash purchases, Blanket Purchase Agreement or any other acquisition method. These newly introduced FAR clauses will have impact on any acquisition made by the U.S. Government no matter the acquisition value.
