This Presidential Document announces the continuation of the national emergency declared on April 3, 2014, concerning the situation in and in relation to South Sudan. The emergency was originally declared due to threats to U.S. national security and foreign policy posed by violence, human rights abuses, and instability in South Sudan and the surrounding region. The document extends the national emergency for an additional year beyond April 3, 2026, reaffirming the ongoing threat. This continuation is pursuant to the International Emergency Economic Powers Act and the National Emergencies Act.
