Description

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MoDNR) intends to repatriate 235 cultural items classified as sacred objects or objects of cultural patrimony. These items have a cultural affiliation with the Sac & Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa and include projectile points, blankets, bags, tools, photographs, jewelry, clothing, and regalia. The repatriation process is conducted under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), with repatriation to occur on or after April 27, 2026. Requests for repatriation can be submitted by lineal descendants or culturally affiliated Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations.
