The USDA Forest Service, Modoc National Forest, is seeking offers for the supply and delivery of large quantities of hay to support wild horse and burro feeding operations at the Double Devil Wild Horse Corrals near Alturas, California. - Government Buyer: - USDA Forest Service, Modoc National Forest, CSA Southwest 1 office (Albuquerque, NM) - Products Requested: - 2,100 tons of horse-quality alfalfa hay - 6-string rectangle bales - 15%-22% crude protein - 2025/2026 crop, domestically grown, sun-cured - Free of mold, dust, weeds, animal contamination, pesticides, foreign matter, and blister beetles - 100 tons of high-quality grass hay - 6-string rectangle bales - 10%-16% crude protein - Acceptable varieties: Meadow, Blue, Timothy, Orchard, Coastal, Bermuda - 2025/2026 crop, domestically grown, sun-cured - Same quality requirements as above - Delivery Requirements: - Monthly incremental deliveries starting in April - Deliveries to Double Devil Wild Horse Corrals, Alturas, CA - Delivery schedule coordinated with the Contracting Officer Representative; government may adjust based on inventory and animal needs - Deliveries Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with possible emergency weekend deliveries - Unique/Notable Requirements: - Hay must be free of blister beetles and contaminants - Only domestically grown, sun-cured hay from the 2025/2026 crop is acceptable - Total small business set-aside under NAICS 111940 - No specific OEMs or branded vendors are named; all hay must meet detailed quality and safety standards.
