Iowa State University of Science and Technology (ISU) is seeking qualified contractors for the removal and replacement of the roofs on the Horse Barn and Machine Shed at its Ames, Iowa campus. - Government Buyer: - Iowa State University of Science and Technology (ISU) - Procurement Services and Facilities Planning & Management offices - OEMs and Vendors: - GAF (manufacturer of specified roofing materials) - UL (Underwriters Laboratories, for lightning protection components) - Lightning Protection Institute (certification requirement for installers) - Products/Services Requested: - Roofing materials: - GAF Timberline ArmorShield II shingles (impact-resistant, or equivalent) - GAF FeltBuster underlayment (or equivalent) - GAF Pro-Start starter shingles (or equivalent) - GAF Seal-A-Ridge ridge cap shingles (or equivalent) - GAF WeatherWatch ice & water shield (or equivalent) - Metal ventilators, metal flashing, neoprene roof flashing - Lightning protection system: - UL 96/96A compliant lightning protection components (copper cable, air terminals, grounding rods) - Installation by a Certified Member of the Lightning Protection Institute - Services: - Complete roof tear-off and replacement - Removal, salvage, and reinstallation of lightning protection system - Performance and payment bond - Unique or Notable Requirements: - Maintain building operations and protect staff, animals, and adjacent areas during construction - Install protection tarps extending at least 10 feet from walls - Lightning protection system must meet NFPA 780 and UL 96/96A standards - 25-year manufacturer warranty for shingle roof system; 1-year labor and material warranty for roof and lightning protection - Compliance with Iowa labor laws, insurance, and equal employment opportunity reporting - Strict safety and debris management protocols - Contractors encouraged to attend an optional pre-proposal meeting and site visit
