Description
This Science Mission Directorate (SMD) Request for Information (RFI) does not constitute a commitment, implied or otherwise, that the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) will take action in this matter.
The Earth Science Technology Office (ESTO) in the Earth Science Division, the Heliophysics Space Weather Program in the Heliophysics Division (HPD), and NASA’s Astrophysics Division (APD) request industry input to inform the development of the Agency’s “Science as a Service (SaaS)” initiative. SaaS is designed to leverage existing capabilities of industry and identify where new technology investments by the Government will accelerate technology development. It will also enable the testing, validation, and rapid transition of next generation NASA technologies for operational use.
This RFI seeks responses from U.S. industry, universities, non-profit organizations, individuals, NASA centers, Federal Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDCs) such as the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and other U.S. federal, state, local, tribal government agencies as well as the international science community. Responses are subject to the restrictions placed on NASA by SEC. 526 of the ‘‘Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024’’ that prohibit bilateral relationships with China. Details of that restriction are at: https://www.congress.gov/118/plaws/publ42/PLAW-118publ42.pdf and at: https://science.nasa.gov/researchers/sara/faqs/prc-faq-roses/
