The City of DeBary’s regular City Council meeting on October 7, 2026, included several infrastructure funding updates. Senator Tom Wright presented $1.75 million in state funding for the Alexander Island riverfront nature park and stormwater/drainage improvements near Gemini Springs; no project-by-project allocation was given. The meeting also noted approval of an ECHO grant for the splash-pad renovation and a federal award of more than $80 million to advance additional I-4 lanes. Wharton Smith was recognized for constructing Fire Station 39, which the city manager said was completed on time and under budget; no contract award or amount was considered at this meeting. The council unanimously approved Ordinance 10-2026, imposing a six-month moratorium on applications for AI and other data centers, then unanimously approved Resolution 2026-16 extending the moratorium through October 7, 2027, to allow further study and account for possible state legislation. The council also unanimously approved the September meeting minutes, consent agenda items, and a Historic Preservation Advisory Board appointment. No new contract award, bid approval, or direct city procurement expenditure was identified.
