White House Reestablishes PCAST with Tech Leaders
March 25, 2026
The White House has reestablished the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) by appointing 13 prominent technology executives, including Mark Zuckerberg (Meta) and Larry Ellison (Oracle), to provide strategic scientific and technological advice to the federal government. This council, co-chaired by Michael Kratsios (Director of OSTP) and David Sacks (AI and crypto czar), will focus on advancing American innovation, economic growth, and national security, with particular emphasis on emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence. The rechartering of PCAST signals increased federal engagement with private sector technology leaders to shape science and technology policy and procurement priorities in Washington, D.C.
- Why this matters: Procurement professionals should anticipate increased federal initiatives and funding opportunities aligned with AI, advanced computing, and other emerging tech sectors influenced by PCAST recommendations.
- The involvement of leading tech executives suggests a focus on accelerating innovation adoption in government contracts and technology acquisitions.
- Agencies may prioritize procurement strategies that support the administration's goals for maintaining U.S. leadership in critical technology areas.
- Contractors and vendors in AI, cloud computing, and advanced technology fields should evaluate how PCAST-driven policies could impact future federal solicitations and partnership opportunities.
PCAST will focus on the opportunities and challenges that emerging technologies present to the American worker and how to best ensure the U.S. continues to lead in the Golden Age of Innovation.

The scientific community is 'under threat' from 'ideological dogmas' that 'elevate group identity above individual achievement, enforce conformity at the expense of innovative ideas, and inject politics into the heart of the scientific method.'
