House Introduces Energy Bills Relief Act
March 21, 2026
The U.S. House of Representatives, led by members of the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC) Clean Energy Deployment Task Force, has introduced the Energy Bills Relief Act aimed at lowering energy costs for American consumers by expanding access to renewable energy, reinstating tax credits, and modernizing the electric grid. The legislation includes provisions to incentivize utility efficiency, provide financial assistance to families, and prevent price gouging, while ensuring large energy users contribute fairly to grid costs. This initiative reflects a coordinated federal effort to promote clean energy deployment and grid reliability, with implications for procurement professionals involved in energy infrastructure, utility services, and clean energy technologies.
- Why this matters: The Act signals increased federal support and potential funding opportunities for clean energy projects, grid modernization, and utility efficiency programs.
- Procurement teams should anticipate new requirements and incentives related to renewable energy integration, tax credit administration, and consumer protection measures.
- Contractors and vendors specializing in clean energy technologies, grid infrastructure upgrades, and energy efficiency solutions may find expanded market opportunities.
- Organizations involved in federal energy procurement should monitor legislative progress and prepare for potential solicitations aligned with the Act's goals.
The Energy Bills Relief Act is the consumer-first energy policy that American families have been demanding. It lowers energy bills by putting affordability over profits, deploys the most affordable and reliable energy we have ever had, modernizes our electric grid, and ensures that data centers and large energy users pay their fair share instead of passing those costs onto families and small businesses.
— Rep. Mike Levin
Trump and Congressional Republicans are making electric bills unaffordable for our neighbors back home. American families deserve better than a constant struggle with the high cost of living. Clean energy is the fastest, lowest-cost resource we can add to our electric grid to help lower bills. Im thankful for Reps. Casten and Levins leadership, and Im proud to support legislation that lowers costs and commits to clean energy innovation.
— Kathy Castor, U.S. Representative
Families across America are struggling with ever-increasing energy prices. In the last year, electricity rates have soared, increasing by as much as 13% under the Trump Administration. We can point to any number of things that have driven those increases, but at the center of it is that our current energy policy prioritizes the interests of energy producers over the interests of energy consumers.
— Rep. Sean Casten
