March 13, 2026
Cape May County Municipal Utilities Authority (CMCMUA) awarded a 20-year contract to Waga Energy in early 2025 to develop, own, and operate a renewable natural gas (RNG) facility at the CMCMUA Secure Sanitary Landfill in Woodbine, New Jersey. The project will utilize Waga Energy's proprietary WAGABOX technology to convert landfill gas into pipeline-quality RNG, supporting local decarbonization goals and significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
- This long-term agreement highlights municipal commitment to sustainable waste management and renewable energy procurement.
- Procurement professionals should note the integration of advanced biogas upgrading technology (WAGABOX) as a key requirement for RNG projects.
- Contractors and vendors specializing in RNG, landfill gas capture, and decarbonization technologies may find emerging opportunities in similar municipal utility projects.
- The project underscores growing demand for renewable energy solutions at the county and municipal levels, signaling potential for expanded RNG infrastructure investments in New Jersey and beyond.
