State & Local Meeting
Planning and Zoning Commission - February 23, 2026
February 23, 2026
The City of Burlington Planning and Zoning Commission met on February 23, 2026, to discuss zoning amendments and text changes to the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO). A key agenda item was a request to amend the existing conditional residential zoning district (CR 956) for the World of Pentecost Church property to include additional parcels totaling 17.57 acres. This amendment would allow the church to expand with new structures such as a sanctuary and gymnasium, and consolidate zoning across the parcels. The commission recommended approval of this zoning amendment, noting it would enable cohesive future development and accommodate existing and planned uses like a church, school, and daycare. The matter will proceed to the City Council for further consideration. Additionally, the commission reviewed proposed minor text amendments to the UDO, including clarifications on setbacks, pocket neighborhood street tree requirements, and density calculations for split-zone parcels. These text amendments were also recommended for approval to improve clarity and consistency in zoning regulations. No votes or motions related to direct procurement or contract awards were discussed during the meeting.
