OLLI Presentation No. 4, Fall 2025 – Ashland Police

The City of Ashland Oregon Police Department provided a comprehensive overview of their operations, staffing, budget, and community programs during the OLLI Presentation No. 4 in Fall 2025. The department currently has 31 officers with five vacancies and a total budget of approximately $9.3 million, with 84% allocated to personnel costs. They discussed challenges in staffing due to national workforce trends and social factors, as well as their commitment to accreditation and training. The department highlighted their use of advanced technology such as GPS-enabled vehicles, body cameras, and conducted energy weapons to enhance response times and accountability. Community engagement initiatives include a successful School Resource Officer program, a Gateway program for addiction recovery, and volunteer support for patrol and special events. They also addressed issues related to homelessness, crime statistics, and inter-agency cooperation. The department does not currently acquire federal military equipment and relies on city funding for operations.
