Blue Springs State of the City 2026
February 23, 2026
The City of Blue Springs delivered its 2026 State of the City address, highlighting significant progress in infrastructure, public safety, and community development. Key procurement and contracting efforts focused on an extensive street maintenance program, with 162 miles of street work planned over two years, including major road resurfacing projects and sidewalk infill to improve safety and accessibility. Public safety enhancements included hiring 23 new officers over two years and deploying advanced technology such as license plate reader cameras and drone first responder programs to reduce crime. Downtown revitalization projects are underway, featuring mixed-use developments and streetscape improvements to foster economic growth. Additionally, the city is advancing a new 50-acre regional park with planned construction starting in late 2026. The city also emphasized strategic planning and sustainable budgeting to ensure long-term maintenance and growth. A revenue bond election is scheduled to support sewer infrastructure funding through state revolving funds, aiming to secure favorable loan terms without impacting property taxes.
