# 11.6.2026 Housing Mtg

Kosciusko County housing and zoning discussion, Nov. 6, 2026 (the meeting title date; metadata lists Nov. 7). County and municipal planning and zoning representatives discussed possible updates to zoning rules in response to state housing legislation and local affordability concerns. Topics included permanent accessory dwelling units (ADUs), duplexes and other multifamily housing, smaller minimum lot sizes where sewer is available, setbacks, residential parking requirements, and apartments above downtown businesses. Participants emphasized balancing housing options and growth in small communities with farmland preservation, neighborhood compatibility, fire safety, and local infrastructure capacity; they also noted that rules may need to vary among lake areas, towns, and rural locations.

No ordinance changes were adopted and no votes, contract awards, bids, or other procurement activity were identified. The chair said the discussion would be compiled for further research and shared with the Plan Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals, with an update planned for their December meetings; participants were encouraged to submit additional input. The Community Foundation was described as helping fund the Housing Coalition’s work, but no related purchasing decision was discussed.
