# Fitchburg, WI Park Commission 11-5-26

The Fitchburg Parks Commission met on November 5, 2026. Its principal procurement item was Resolution R 208-26, approving bids for park improvements at Outlot 6 (temporary park) and Outlot 10 (fee park) in Highfield Reserve. The commission approved the resolution for recommendation to the Common Council, which was expected to consider it on November 10. Madison Commercial Landscapes was the low bidder for concrete walkways, pads, and benches at $52,150; Hartland Ecological Group was the low bidder for a three-year prairie establishment, restoration, and tree-planting contract at $53,999. Work could begin as soon as fall, including initial prairie planting.

The commission also heard Bike Fitchburg’s proposal to designate existing multi-use paths and cycle tracks as a citywide greenway system. A future resolution would establish the system and support coordinated mapping, signage, maintenance, gap reduction, and grant-seeking; no funding or contract was approved for this proposal at the meeting. Staff also reported on seasonal park operations and tree planting, and noted that park-naming applications and a Kids Crossing project update are planned for a future meeting.
