# NATO Launches Counter-Drone Marketplace

NATO’s Communications and Information Agency (NCIA) selected 16 counter-uncrewed aircraft systems from five companies for a new marketplace that allows Allied countries to buy or lease listed solutions through a NATO catalogue without running a separate tender. The 18-month multi-award framework contracts may be extended, but no purchases had been completed at launch; orders and delivery therefore depend on individual Allies’ decisions. Listed system prices range from €1.6 million to €25 million, with reported delivery estimates of 90–180 days after contract signature. Alta Ares received six of the 16 lots, and NATO allocated €3.1 million for further testing of selected systems.

- **Why this matters:** The catalogue creates a faster purchasing route for participating Allied buyers, while the framework selection itself does not guarantee orders or deployment.
- Selected suppliers can prepare for country-level requirements and assess their ability to deliver at scale; Alta Ares holds the largest number of lots among the five selected companies.
- NATO’s testing funding and plans for regular competitions create routes for evaluation and for additional technologies to enter the marketplace. Suppliers not selected can assess their capabilities against the four protection scenarios identified in the procurement coverage.
- Procurement teams can compare catalogue-listed systems, prices, purchase or lease options, and stated delivery estimates when assessing counter-drone needs.
