# PM Opioid Abatement Committee 11/4/26

The Sumner County Opioid Abatement Committee met on November 4, 2026. The grant accountant reported that FY 2026–27 award contracts had been signed, with grantees eligible to begin drawing funds in January after submitting performance metrics; grants operate on a reimbursement basis. The county was using restricted state funds, with roughly $300,000 remaining after an initial distribution exceeding $900,000, while separate Brown Grier funds were being held in an interest-bearing account. The committee reviewed the requirement that spending comply with Exhibit E and discussed updating the county website to publish grantees, award purposes, and fund balances. The committee approved a Recovery Court request as amended: the house acquired for $88,000 would be used as a recovery home under a ten-year use restriction.

The committee approved a $10,000 health department outreach allocation for billboard messaging, subject to committee review of the final design and contact information before funds are released; targeting overdose hotspots and including a usable way to connect people to services were discussed. No billboard vendor was selected. It also approved a Sheriff’s Office contract amendment concerning about $41,000 remaining for an inmate tablet-based education initiative, contingent on Law Director review of legal, privacy, and data-security questions. Bylaw revisions were deferred for further review at the next meeting.
