# Public Works Committee - November 4, 2026

The Hardin County Public Works Committee met on November 4, 2026. Members discussed one-year renewals of mowing leases for Pearl Hollow and Springfield Road, with the agreement dates updated to January 1–December 31. County staff said the agreements had cleared the county attorney’s office but were awaiting confirmation from Republic, and requested that they not go before Fiscal Court until November 24. Staff also reported approval of a $36,400 emergency-fund request for replacing and enlarging a drainage structure on Hoover Hollow Road in East View. Final engineering coordination and additional estimates are pending; the goal is to order materials and complete the work before year-end. No committee vote was reported on these items.

Staff reported that the ARPA project work was complete and that contractor invoices were still pending. UDP’s garbage-cart audit and restickering effort is underway, with local fire departments contracted and paid to participate. UDP also spent about $75,000 in October on Fort Knox landfill equipment and maintenance upgrades, including a new scale house, recalibrated scale, signage, and newer equipment. Separately, staff described work toward proposed zoning rules for battery energy storage facilities, including a potential 10-acre project; draft regulations are being developed for planning commission review, with possible requirements covering setbacks, screening, decommissioning bonds, emergency access, noise, and road protection. No specific project approval was reported.
