# Ad Hoc Sustainability and Resilience Committee 11-04-2026

The City of Norwalk Ad Hoc Sustainability and Resilience Committee met on November 4, 2026, to review the Norwalk 2050 sustainability and resilience roadmap. Staff described it as a 23-year planning guide covering nine sectors and approximately 248 potential strategies, drawing on existing city plans, the capital plan, a greenhouse-gas inventory, and a vulnerability assessment. Discussion focused on emissions reduction, local clean-energy generation, building efficiency, transportation, disaster preparedness, community wealth, and coordinating plans to help prioritize actions amid limited funding and staff capacity. Examples included heat-pump and electric-vehicle adoption, renewable-energy and storage infrastructure, and a goal of generating at least 25% of power within city boundaries.

Members discussed the City Council’s role in setting policy and approving contracts, possible collaboration with other municipalities, public-private partnerships, state transportation investments, and the need to identify priorities and funding for implementation. No contract awards, solicitations, vendor selections, budget allocations, or procurement approvals were identified. The committee approved the October 14 meeting notes, with members abstaining, and later voted to adjourn; neither vote concerned procurement.
