# LIVE COVERAGE Planning Commission Meeting of November 4, 2026

The City of Salinas Planning Commission meeting was held November 4, 2026. Commissioners approved the 2027 meeting calendar and approved a finding that the proposed disposition of eight parcels comprising downtown Parking Lots 8 and 12 conforms to the City’s 2002 General Plan. The disposition item did not approve a sale, price, buyer, or development project; staff said negotiations and environmental review are underway. Staff described mixed-use development as the intended use, with Lot 12 development currently in administrative review and Lot 8 expected to be used for construction staging. The city is also pursuing interim surface parking for employees and expects underground parking in the proposed Lot 8 development. The conformity resolution passed unanimously. A member of the public raised concerns about downtown parking.

No contract award or purchasing decision was made. The next meeting is scheduled to include a Notice of Funding Availability project report from Housing. Staff also targeted December 4 for release of the draft General Plan, Climate Action Plan, and draft Environmental Impact Report, followed by a 45-day review period and a Planning Commission study session on December 16.
