# Open Space Task Force October 26, 2026

The Greenfield Open Space Task Force met on October 26, 2026. Members unanimously approved the September meeting minutes and discussed how to prioritize conservation work, including wildlife corridors, smaller parcels, and wildlife crossings. The task force reviewed an inventory of 215 city- or Redevelopment Authority-owned parcels, which a member is documenting for further assessment. A member also reported that a Community Preservation Committee proposal for vernal-pool signs had passed and would proceed to the next phase; no dollar amount was stated. The group discussed possible grant-funded dam-removal work in the region, but no funding or procurement decision was made at this meeting.

Members discussed management of the River Works Park pollinator project, invasive brush, roadside mowing, and how the city’s Department of Public Works handles maintenance and possible contracted work. They also considered a request concerning removal of a water-protection overlay on a privately owned 30-acre parcel near the Green River. The task force did not take a formal position on that zoning request, but expressed interest in future opportunities to support conservation as the development process advances. No contract awards, vendor selections, bid approvals, or purchasing decisions were identified.
