# Gila County BOS Meeting

At its November 4, 2026 meeting, the Gila County Board of Supervisors approved several purchasing, contracting, and funding items. The board approved the 2027 Tyler Technologies end-user agreement for Marshall & Swift property valuation data; increased FX Tactical LLC blanket purchase order 20270146 from $25,000 to $49,000 for uniforms and equipment through June 30, 2027; and accepted a $173,900 state school-safety award supporting Mutualink communications and equipment. It also approved a one-year renewal of American Guard Services’ armed-security contract CTR068378-GC1, with a maximum of $462,375, and accepted an EPA Brownfields Assessment Cooperative Agreement for the Copper Corridor for October 2026–October 2030, with no county match required. Other approved funding included $9,000 for the Sheriff’s Posse Shop with a Hero program, $7,000 for the Quilts of Valor Heart-to-Heart Group, $1,500 for the Tonto Basin Kiwanis Club, and support for two Tonto Basin Fire District radios (the amount is unclear in the transcript). The board also approved an estimated $880,513.98 in one-time payments to eligible county employees. The Salt River Project Doppler software licensing agreement was approved at no cost to the county.

After an executive session, the board approved a temporary pause in public operations at the Pleasant Valley Veterans Retreat through March 31, 2027, citing unresolved legal, insurance, and operational questions; staff are to continue working through those issues. In a separate work session, staff and a financial adviser reviewed options for the Buckhead Mesa landfill expansion and land purchase. Estimates included about $2.825 million in upfront land, cultural-resource, and site-work costs for approximately 515 acres, compared with about $1.627 million for the 288-acre landfill-only purchase. A roughly $21.5 million project financing scenario and estimated annual debt service of about $1.5 million were discussed, but the board made no financing or acreage decision and asked staff to examine the required land area. The meeting also recognized county employees for a cesspool-remediation project that used $500,000 in state funding to remove 13 cesspools and install 12 septic systems.
