# Housing and Community Development Commission Meeting of October 19, 2026

The City of Iowa City Housing and Community Development Commission met on October 19, 2026. The main discussion concerned the FY28–FY29 competitive public services funding round for income-eligible services. Staff estimated that about 40 applications had been submitted and outlined the review schedule: applications to be posted online and uploaded to Neighborly for scoring, commissioner questions due December 4, applicant responses due December 28, scores due February 1, and funding recommendations to be considered at the February 15 meeting for presentation to City Council. The commission discussed scoring, application budgets and narratives, prior and other funding, equity, and how to assess applicants’ capacity. Staff noted that agencies receiving awards may need a higher level of financial review, depending on their annual revenue: an in-house year-end statement for under $250,000, an independent CPA review from $250,000 to under $1 million, and a full audit above $1 million.

No contracts, bids, vendor selections, purchases, or funding awards were approved at this meeting; the commission was preparing to review applications and make future funding recommendations. Commissioners also requested a future presentation on the city’s housing dashboard. The commission approved the prior meeting minutes and adjourned; no spending-related motions or votes were taken.
