# 2026-10-5 Snoqualmie Public Safety Committee Meeting

The Snoqualmie Public Safety Committee met on October 5, 2026, to discuss the Fire Department’s proposed 2027–28 biennial budget. The presentation described a proposed increase of nearly $700,000 (14.3%) for 2027 and identified several budget items: converting a 20-hour-per-week administrative position to full time; increasing funding for the regional fire-training consortium; purchasing FirstWatch accreditation and performance-analysis software for an initial $30,000 plus $5,000 in annual ongoing costs under a five-year agreement; and adding SCBA equipment to outfit the department’s apparatus and maintain spares. The Chief said additional training-consortium costs were about $6,000 per member for 2027. No budget approval or procurement award was made at this meeting.

Committee members asked about the software’s cost and implementation, training targets, volunteer costs, overtime savings, vehicle maintenance, and the staffing impact of possible reductions. The Chief agreed to provide follow-up information, including more detail on the administrative position and training requirements. Members discussed that reduced staffing could make a second response unit less available, while not funding FirstWatch could put accreditation at risk. The agenda was approved, but no spending-related motion or vote was recorded.
