# Parks Board Meeting - October 14, 2026

The City of Ridgefield Parks Board met on October 14, 2026. The board unanimously recommended that City Council further consider installing four bat boxes and two owl boxes, donated by community members, at five parks; no purchase amount was discussed. Staff reported that the Onzo Nature Play Playground improvements had been completed using on-call contractors, and that City Council had approved replacement signs at Davis and Hayden parks. A Storybook Hollow resident asked the board to consider relocating two portable toilets and noted that a permanent restroom was part of the original plan but might not fit this year’s budget; no action was taken on that comment.

Staff said Sports Facilities Companies had been selected as operator for the Ridgefield Community and Recreation Center, with the city and the company developing the legal agreement. The operator must meet city standards, including affordability and scholarship programs. Groundbreaking is anticipated in January or February, with opening targeted by the end of 2028 at the latest; no contract value was stated. The board also received an update on the Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces Plan, with a draft expected to return for board review in December or January. Members discussed future priorities including park and trail connectivity, a skate park, pickleball facilities, and a sports complex; these were discussion items, not spending approvals.
