# City of Akron Council Committee Meeting - 11.2.2026 (Public Service, Public Utilities, & Green)

The City of Akron Council’s Public Service, Public Utilities, and Green Committee met on November 2, 2026, according to the meeting title. The committee voted to place two ordinances on the consent agenda: one authorizing the Public Service Director to enter into contracts, following public solicitation of qualifications and/or proposals, for professional services to develop a long-term drinking-water supply, distribution-infrastructure, and operations plan; and another authorizing an intergovernmental agreement with Stow to amend the existing water-supply agreement. The Stow amendment would remove the existing geographic limits on where Akron may serve water through Stow’s system and adjust transmission credits. No contract values, vendors, or specific procurement awards were stated. Members also sought further explanation of the analysis behind proposed water-rate increases and asked about notifying customers; no decision on those requests was recorded.

The Public Service Director also outlined the city’s leaf-collection operation, scheduled to begin November 9. The city will use recently acquired equipment to collect leaves from lawn strips, increase staffing and coordinate Public Service, Parks, and Highway crews, and process collected leaves into mulch or compost. Residents were asked not to place leaves in the street; service requests for missed collections should be submitted through 311 as bulk pickup. No new spending action or procurement vote related to leaf collection was identified.
