# 11/2/26 - BOE Meeting

Ash County Board of Education regular meeting, November 2, 2026. The board approved a modification to the existing RTI/CDC What Works in Schools grant, increasing available funding from an expected $78,169 to $118,288 and extending the performance period through the end of September; the modification was approved by vote. The superintendent also reported an $8,969 speech-and-debate grant and a $2,000 Skyline donation for middle-school athletics. The board reviewed the 2027–28 budget calendar and quarterly finances, including declining enrollment and higher transportation fuel costs. The district reported spending about $23 million of its $52 million needs-based middle-school construction grant and about $17 million in county funds, for roughly $40 million spent on the project as of October 31. A Westwood water-tower project was being prepared for regulatory review; the district reported $1 million in public-school repair and renovation funds, with $832,000 committed.

Facilities updates included continued construction on the new middle school and planned work on its roof. Three requests for qualifications were received for a storage-building, road, and tennis-court-related project; submissions had not yet been reviewed, and no vendor selection or contract award was reported. For the learning-center roof, the district was seeking additional state funding after the amount available was below the received proposal. The board also approved a paid remote-day camp, the budget calendar, and the grant modification, among other items. It adopted regulation 3200R governing school-level review of instructional and library materials. No other procurement award was identified in the transcript.
