# October 19th, 2026 Regular School Board Meeting

The October 19, 2026 regular school board meeting of Butte School District #1 included discussion of radar speed signs planned for six schools. The district expects to install 12 signs, with approximately $110,000 from 1.25 mills covering the signs and installation; proposed locations were still being coordinated with public works, transportation staff, and school principals. No vote on the signs was recorded. Trustees also gave a first reading to Policy 7525 on lease-purchase agreements, which would establish procedures for future leasing and lease-to-buy arrangements, and reviewed travel reimbursement policy and related forms.

Trustees approved the payroll and claims reports and several agreements or partnerships, including the RSVP coordinator contract; memoranda of understanding with the Silver Bow Health Department and Butte Cares; the University of Montana’s coaching and Early Identification System project; Montana Tech’s TRIO Search program; and Grand Canyon University’s student-teacher placement partnership. They also approved a pre-ETS agreement for services to students with disabilities, running October 1, 2026–September 30, 2027, and authorized destruction of eligible HR records. No contract amounts were stated. Other updates covered school programs and enrollment of about 3,995 students, roughly 60 fewer than the prior year.
