# School Committee - October 28th, 2026

The Milton Public Schools School Committee meeting, held October 28, 2026 (the meeting metadata is dated October 29), covered MCAS results and district instruction, the superintendent search, and finance and facilities. On school construction, members reported that Town Meeting had voted to acquire the Laboure property, with a town-wide vote still required in December. The committee had asked that investigation of a pre-K–K option at Laboure be included in the MSBA process; if the purchase does not proceed, investigation of a pre-K–K option at Gile Road is still planned. The designer selection board chose DLR as architect for the project after considering two finalists, and the town was preparing contracts. Town Meeting also supported expediting funding for the Tucker Playground through the Community Preservation Committee; no dollar amount was stated.

The finance update said the first-quarter budget was on track, while preparation for FY28 continues amid a projected gap between expected town revenue and the cost of rolling over the district budget; school, town, and finance representatives planned further coordination. The finance subcommittee reported approval of warrants 15–17, for $386,725, $151,145.73, and $462,336.64, respectively. The superintendent reported grants received of $10,000 for everyday-speech curriculum, $10,000 for MyCAP planning, and $15,000 from DESE for innovation work; applications include $15,000 for next year’s MyCAP work and a further $50,000 innovation grant. The committee also unanimously approved the superintendent’s desired characteristics for the search. No new procurement policy was adopted.
