# Zoning Board of Appeals - Zoning Hearing, 10-29-26

The McHenry County Zoning Board of Appeals continued its zoning hearing on October 29, 2026, and voted 7–0 to approve a conditional-use request and related variation for energy infrastructure associated with a previously approved utility-scale solar farm. The board also approved conditions for a battery-storage addition to an existing solar farm, Petition C2561, by a 7–0 vote. The conditions were amended to require specified safety and emergency-response submissions before issuance of a building permit and to require consideration of possible secondary containment to protect soil and water resources. Members discussed decommissioning bonds, fire-department training and response planning, and battery safety; no contract awards, purchasing decisions, or procurement spending were identified.

The board then considered Pivot Energy Isle 86 LLC’s proposal for a 5-megawatt solar facility with 5 megawatts of battery storage near Seaman Road in Coral Township. The board approved the conditions, including the amendments adopted for the preceding case, and voted 7–0 to recommend approval of the petition to the County Board. The applicant also discussed a proposed shared access road and prevailing-wage requirements. No procurement activity was identified in the meeting.
