# Planning and Zoning Commission - Oct. 28, 2026, Regular Meeting

The Aurora Planning and Zoning Commission held its regular meeting on October 28, 2026. The principal item was Murphy Creek GDP Amendment No. 4, requested by Murphy Creek LLC. By a 7–0 vote, the commission recommended approval to City Council. The amendment modestly reduces the residential unit cap, removes multifamily use from planning area 23 because of Buckley airport noise restrictions, adds stream management corridors, revises planning-area layouts and road alignments, relocates a neighborhood park, and updates public-improvement requirements, including wider sidewalks on East Jewell Avenue. Staff recommended approval, finding the changes consistent with the comprehensive plan and surrounding development. Commissioners and a resident also raised concerns about possible landfill-related soil mitigation and traffic; the applicant said future development-area applications would undergo further traffic review.

During public comment on non-agenda matters, a resident urged stronger notice and appeal periods, direct mail, and more public meetings for zoning changes, citing data center development concerns. Staff said notice-and-appeal revisions were under review and that data-center setback changes were being developed following City Council direction; no such changes were adopted at this meeting. The commission also discussed proposed 2027 meeting dates and several planning matters. No procurement, contract awards, or spending decisions were identified.
