# 10.29.2026 URI Board of Trustees - IRCC Meeting

The University of Rhode Island Board of Trustees’ Institutional Risk and Compliance Committee met on October 29, 2026. External auditor CLA provided an update on the FY2026 audit for the year ended June 30, 2026. CLA said it expected to issue an unmodified (“clean”) opinion, subject to final state acceptance; it reported no material audit adjustments, no identified material weaknesses, and no disagreements with management. The audit adopted GASB 103, which changes financial-statement presentation but not recognition or accounting. The federal single audit of student-aid programs remains in progress because the federal compliance supplement is delayed, preventing issuance of that audit opinion. No contracts, vendor selections, bids, or procurement spending decisions were discussed.

The auditor also highlighted higher-education regulatory and financial risks, including changes to student aid, forthcoming graduate-earnings accountability requirements that may affect Title IV eligibility, financial sustainability, cybersecurity, and institutional governance of AI tools. The committee approved the prior minutes and voted to enter executive session to discuss an athletics compliance matter and review internal controls and corrective actions; it later voted to seal the executive-session minutes. The next meeting was scheduled for February 3, 2027.
