# Planning Commission - 10/28/2026 5:00:00 PM

The Gilbert, Arizona Planning Commission held a study session and regular meeting on October 28, 2026. The commission reviewed several development applications, but no procurement contracts, vendor selections, or bid awards were discussed. For Lakeside Village at Morrison Ranch, staff identified unresolved access, parking, and site-plan issues; commissioners were not comfortable allowing construction-document work to proceed at risk at this stage. For Skyline Phase 2, a proposed 132-unit apartment development with 267 parking spaces and six EV charging stations, commissioners supported the applicant proceeding with construction documents at risk, subject to staff comments and later review.

The commission initiated staff work on a mixed-use zoning text amendment intended to balance housing demand with preservation of nonresidential uses, with options including revisions to mixed-use districts and density clustering. The Freestone Park design review, including 16 new pickleball courts, a splash pad, and approximately 53 additional parking spaces, was approved 6–1; staff confirmed the project is funded in the current fiscal year for construction, though no contract or construction award was considered. Consent items were approved 7–0, and the Bonanza Medical Office Center hearing was continued to December 2.
