# RESET St. Tammany Task Force : October 28, 2026

The October 28, 2026 organizational meeting of the RESET St. Tammany Task Force, convened by STPG-TV, launched a parish-wide review of St. Tammany Parish’s tax structure and public-service funding. The task force was asked to develop long-term recommendations for a more efficient and sustainable approach to services across 52 taxing districts, including fire, drainage, recreation, schools, law enforcement, and mosquito control. Parish leadership cited a legislative auditor’s report indicating that the parish lacks a sustainable revenue source for public safety agencies, while noting that the parish is not among Louisiana’s highest property-tax collectors. Members emphasized using verified information, hearing from the public and affected districts, and focusing on practical solutions rather than past decisions.

No procurement activity, contract awards, vendor selections, or spending motions were identified. The task force is intended to remain independent of the pending potential sales-tax vote and will ultimately provide findings and recommendations to the parish president and Parish Council; some recommendations could require action by the council or state legislature. Members discussed meeting frequency and public-participation procedures, and December 9 at 5:30 p.m. was proposed for the next meeting. A chair nomination was discussed but no final selection or vote was recorded.
