# Medicine Hat Hosts Defence Industry Forum

Medicine Hat hosted a defence industry tradeshow on October 28 and a forum on October 29, 2026, at the Medicine Hat Lodge, bringing businesses together with government support agencies, researchers, and technology developers. Organizers highlighted more than $1 billion in local defence and research modernization projects underway and more than $500 billion in planned Canadian defence investment over the coming decade. These figures provide market context, not announced solicitations; forum ticket sales are closed, and the events did not identify specific procurement opportunities.

- The event connected businesses with organizations including Canadian Forces Base Suffield, Prairies Economic Development Canada, and the National Research Council Canada, making it relevant for firms building regional defence and research relationships.
- Contractors should treat the investment figures as indicators of potential market activity, not as awarded contract values or a guaranteed pipeline. The signals name no solicitation numbers, contract awards, or bid deadlines.
- With the forum concluded and ticket sales closed, firms can use the organizations and businesses identified in the event coverage to assess regional capabilities and potential areas of alignment with defence and research modernization.
