# Geneva CUSD 304 Finance Committee Meeting - 10-26-2026

The Geneva CUSD 304 Board of Education Finance Committee met on October 26, 2026, to review the proposed 2026 property-tax levy, collected in 2027. Staff presented historical assessment growth, new-construction estimates, tax-increment-financing impacts, CPI trends, debt-service changes, and levy assumptions. The proposed total levy was approximately $111.6 million, about $3.9 million (3.61%) above the prior year; the capped levy was estimated to rise 4.46%, while bond-and-interest extensions were projected to decline 1.75%. The discussion noted that $9–10 million in capital spending was excluded from the operating-cost forecast because it would be funded from cash. No contract awards, vendor selections, or other procurement actions were identified.

Committee members asked how new construction and property assessments affect the tax base and levy. Staff said operating costs for the coming year may be difficult to cover and that the forecast remains in progress, including salary estimates and the impact of upcoming labor negotiations; possible cost reductions may be brought forward for discussion. The committee approved the August 24, 2026 minutes and voted to forward a 10-year review item to the full board. No procurement-related spending vote or purchasing action was taken.
