# NPSD School Committee | Oct 28, 2026

At its October 28, 2026 meeting, the NPSD School Committee reviewed the completion of a roughly five-year, $125 million school-facilities program. The project included two new elementary schools, a district office and athletic-support facilities, and renovations at middle and high schools; remaining work includes high-school window replacement and Woodhaven parking-lot lighting. The project architect described cost savings used to extend the bond-funded work, with approximately 80% state reimbursement. The superintendent also cited federal COVID funds, state safety grants of up to $500,000, and Chartwells food-service funding as sources for related facility and safety upgrades. Studio Jade, Shawmut, and Left Field were recognized as project partners. The committee also heard that the high school received continued ten-year accreditation.

The committee approved a three-year legal-services contract with Benjamin Scungio’s firm, an assistive-technology service agreement, an agreement with Informed Psychoeducational Services for student testing and school-psychologist services, and a renewed partnership with the Rhode Island Department of Education for the district’s MTSS support system. It also approved, in one motion, four agreements covering 2027 graduation, class rings/diplomas/regalia for 2026–2029, a winter formal, and a Birchwood Middle School field trip to a Worcester Red Sox science/STEAM event. Bills and use-of-property requests were approved as presented. Votes on these items passed without opposition; no specific contract dollar values were stated beyond the facilities-program funding noted above.
