# Franklin County Planning Commission Meeting 10/28/2026

The Franklin County Planning Commission’s zoning-ordinance work session on October 28, 2026, continued its review of Article II and began an overview of Article III. The commission agreed to leave the complaint process open to anonymous reports, remove the proposed 30-day compliance deadline from violation notices while retaining the state-code appeal reference, correct ordinance and statutory citations, and remove “present” from the BZA quorum language after legal review. Staff explained that violation notices already include required appeal information and are sent by certified and regular mail. Public commenters raised concerns about anonymous complaints and inspections of property; no procurement or spending activity was identified.

Staff previewed Article III provisions covering applications, fees, conditional zoning and proffers, special-use permits, variances, site plans, land-use permits, and digital submissions through the county’s OpenGov permitting portal, with staff assistance available for applicants who need it. A commenter urged the commission to consider stronger data-center standards sooner, including reconsidering whether data centers should be permitted by right in certain areas; the commission anticipated further discussion at its November 4 meeting. Public comments on the draft ordinance were also discussed. No contracts, vendor selections, budget allocations, or purchasing actions were reported.
