# 10/27/2026 Commissioners of St. Mary's County

The October 27, 2026 St. Mary’s County Commissioners meeting included several grant and budget actions. Commissioners approved two Sheriff’s Office jail-based MOUD/RSAT grant awards: $148,787 for Part One and $45,442 for Part Two, with the required 25% nonfederal match already included in the FY2027 budget; related budget amendments were also approved. They approved an agreement continuing the Circles USA poverty-alleviation program, including $45,250 from the Department of Social Services and $75,000 already available from the Governor’s Office for Children, for total program funding of $120,250. Commissioners also approved an agreement with the Patuxent Partnership to receive the second part of a Maryland bond-bill grant for a 12,000-gallon Jet A fuel tank at the regional airport; the discussion put the award at approximately $350,000. The presentation described the tank project as covering engineering and site work and as the final part of that project.

The Health Department announced plans to issue a competitive RFP for local organizations to support community gardens or food distribution, using grant resources, and described additional grant-supported health access initiatives. Commissioners accepted the completed FDR Boulevard section from Buck Hewitt Road to Peg Road into the county highway system and approved related speed, traffic-control, and bicycle-lane ordinances; the road project was discussed as part of a broader investment of about $48 million. A separate presentation raised the Maryland Department of Labor’s RFP to review the state workforce system, including possible consolidation of local workforce areas; no county procurement decision or vote was taken on that proposal. The board also approved no-cost personnel realignments and administrative actions, including designating the HR director for the state family-leave program while the county continues evaluating private-plan options.
